The days are getting longer and the weather is starting to get warmer. Which means its time to throw open the windows and do some spring cleaning! This is one of my favorite times of the year. I know I’m a bit of a dork, but there’s something so satisfying about giving your house a good deep clean after a long cold winter.
I’ve created a simple checklist to help you kick start your spring cleaning both inside your house and outside. If you want a printable copy sent straight to your inbox then signup below!
Spring Cleaning Checklist
Outside Tasks
- Pressure wash/ clean deck or patio
- Uncover patio furniture and grill – store away covers
- Uncover and clean air-conditioning units
- Clean outdoor light fixtures, replace bulbs as needed
- Reinstall garden hoses and turn on exterior water
- Wash exterior windows
- Rake away dead leaves and clean up flower beds and garden
- Trim tree branches that were damaged during winter
- Clean and organize the garage
- Inspect lawn equipment – get lawnmower blades and hedge trimmers sharpened, replace weed wacker strings
- Store away snow shovels and ice scrapers
- Oil garage door tracks
- Takedown storm windows and doors – switch out with screens
- Pressure wash walkways and entryways to remove winter dirt and grime
- Rake up dead leaves and fallen branches
Inside Tasks
General
- Test carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, replace batteries if needed
- Check fire extinguishers
- Vacuums and shampoo carpets
- Clean/ replace air filters
- Clean windows & window sills
- Dust blinds and wash curtains
- Dust fans and change setting
- Dust mirrors and picture frames
- Wash doors and baseboards
- Rotate seasonal Decor
Kitchen
- Organize Pantry, check expiration dates, throw away expired food or donate food that will not be used
- Clean out fridge and freezer check expiration dates and toss expired items
- Deep clean kitchen appliances
- Clean and organize under sink-Throw away old or unused cleaning products
- Clean and organize junk draws
- Declutter and organize kitchen countertops and cupboards
- Clean coffee pot
Bathroom
- Replace shower curtain liners
- Clean and organize under sink
Bedroom
- Wash all bedding
- Rotate mattress
- Organize and declutter closets donating any unused clothing, shoes, jewelry or throwing away stained or damaged items
- Go through kids clothes, store or donate clothes that no longer fit
- Rotate cold weather clothes witH summer clothes
- Replace heavier winter bedding with lighter summer bedding
Laundry Room
- Empty washing machine lint trap
- Clean washing machine with a liquid cleaning solution
- Clean rubber seal on front loader
- Empty lint trap
- Clean dryer drum with a magic eraser
Entry Way
- Wash down the front door with warm
- soapy water
- Clean and sanitize doorknobs and doorbell
- Clean entryway/front door windows
- Organize and declutter coat closet
- Clean or replace entryway and welcome rugs
